Films for 2016
It's gonna be a good year for films I think. Lots of promising looking stuff out there for blockbuster and arthouse fans alike.

MY TOP 10:

The Revenant (looks amazing, just see the trailer)
Knight of Cups (new Terrence Malick film)
Hail, Caesar! (new Coen brothers)
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Midnight Special (from director of Take Shelter & Mud)
High-Rise (Ben Wheatley adapting JG Ballard's fucked up novel about a tower block that descends into anarchy)
Anomalisa (Charlie Kaufman doing an animation, who doesn't want to see that)
Silence (Scorsese's next film)
Room (darling of the festival circuit recently)
Creed (and Hands of Stone the Roberto Duran film if it ever comes out, been on the slate for about 4 years!)

OTHERS:

Hateful Eight (Tarantino)
The Neon Demon (Nic Winding Refn's new film)
Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans
Youth (Paolo Sorrentino new film with Caine and Keitel)
Trumbo (Bryan Cranston playing Dalton Trumbo the black-listed Hollywood writer)
Being Evel (Evel Knievel documentary)
Green Room
Independence Day: Resurgence
Finding Dory (Pixar sequel)
Ghostbusters (the reboot with women in, could be decent or a car crash)

COMIC BOOK CORNER:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (but Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther worries me)
Captain America: Civil War (looks great, the Cap films are my favourites of the Avengers series)
Suicide Squad
Dr Strange
X-Men: Apocalypse (meh)

don't like the look of Deadpool.

You cunts?

I loved the :

"I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he just wasn't having it.

They made three of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he's just a bad parent."

By the way was it just me who thought Blind Al was Nichelle Nicholls?

watched USS Indianapolis. Out of 800 in the water only around 300 survived. The sharks had a fun time.

I only caught Deadpool a little while ago and agree, it was great fun. The WHAM references became a bit more poignant as of christmas, and I persoanlly liked the little Ferris Beuller reference at the end of the credits. Also the line about "Looks aren't everything? Of course looks are everything....have you heard David Beckham speak?" :-)

zico - don't watch Suicide Squad. It's even worse.

Did like Captain America: Civil War though, that's how it should have been done

I'd usually say watch it just to see how bad it is but you will never get that 2 hours 39 minutes back!! Loved Superman as a kid and the Christopher Nolan Batman's were excellent but this is just one expensive pile of turd!!

Got to agree ZICO I've never seen the film but it just never appealed.

The Captain America civil war is the same just doesn't seem right.

Re: Films for 2016
Know it's an old thread but just had to post on here what a car crash of a movie Batman v Superman was. Never bought it because of the reviews so waited until Sky were showing it and watched it last night. Dear oh dear is there actually a worse film out there?! Did none of the cast actually look at the script and think, er I'll swerve this one as it will kill my career!!! Sure both franchises have had their bad films but this made Superman 3 and 4 look like Oscar winning material!! A dark, confusing, enjoyment free dull mess of a movie. Dreadful....

I do hope the final Dunkirk film is better than the trailer.
Looks a bit hammy to me with Kenneth Brannagh a chief ham up.
KB "We can practically see it from here"
Officer "What ?"
KB "Home"

Surely for such a poignant moment, they could do better.

The 5 minute scene from Atonement is astonishing cinema photography from Seamus McGarvey. Every time I watch it I see something different,so realistic with the anarchy that actually happened.
No CGI either, every soldier shown was an extra or actor

Re: Films for 2016
what did you love about it? for me, it was as pretentious as a film gets. its being classed as a horror film, yet is more like a unintentional comedy. the one positive being Jena Malone who plays the necrophiliac lesbian make up artist

Watched 'Bridge of Spies' thought it was exceedingly boring and after watching the appalling 'Lincoln', I wonder if Spielberg is losing his touch!
